The perfume here is an intoxicating blend of blackberry crumble, ginger and vanilla. In general, the ripeness of the vintage pushes the aromas toward dark and black fruit, think currants and figs, with wisps of orange zest and potpourri. The lavishness of the nose is contrasted by beautiful elegance on the palate. This is not a massive wine. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, even upon release, freeing tension but bolstering the currant, clove and nutmeg. A touch of French Oak appears on the finish as there are subtle hints of caramel, toast and cinnamon.
